St. Michael the Archangel Ceremony + Magnolia Venue Reception
Erica and Clayton’s wedding day on October 5, 2024 was a beautiful reflection of who they are — joyful, vibrant, deeply connected, and completely surrounded by people who love them. Their day began with a stunning Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel in Leawood and ended with an unforgettable, high-energy celebration at Magnolia Venue in Kansas City.
As a Kansas City wedding photographer specializing in candid, true-to-life imagery, this day was the perfect balance of reverence and celebration — elegant and timeless, yet full of color, laughter, and one very big party.
The ceremony at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church was nothing short of breathtaking. The church’s architecture created an atmosphere that felt sacred and intimate while still grand in scale.
One of my favorite moments of the entire day was photographing Erica and Clayton kneeling together at the altar — a quiet, powerful moment that perfectly captured the heart of a Catholic marriage. The warmth of the lighting and the richness of the florals brought so much depth and emotion to the ceremony, making it a dream to photograph.
For couples planning a Catholic wedding in Kansas City, St. Michael the Archangel offers a timeless and meaningful setting that honors tradition while allowing space for personal expression.

From the ceremony to the reception, color played such an important role in this wedding. The florals by Blush and Blossoms Co. added vibrance and texture throughout the day. Combined with candlelight, the overall feel was warm, romantic, and elevated without feeling overly formal.
Every detail felt intentional and thoughtfully curated, creating a wedding design that was both elegant and joyful.

After the ceremony, guests made their way to Magnolia Venue Kansas City, where the celebration truly came alive. This was not a quiet sit-down reception — it was a full-on party, and it reflected Erica and Clayton’s vibrant spirit and close-knit friendships.
With music by Platinum DJ KC, the dance floor stayed packed all night. Friends laughed, danced, and celebrated hard — the kind of reception where you can feel the love and energy in the room. It was the perfect contrast to the reverent ceremony earlier in the day and such a joy to document.

What stood out most about Erica and Clayton’s wedding was how seamlessly it blended meaning and fun. Their ceremony honored their faith in a beautiful, intentional way, and their reception celebrated their community with warmth and joy.
As a photographer, these are the days I love most — where moments unfold naturally, emotions are real, and the images tell a complete story. If you’re planning a high-end Catholic wedding in Kansas City and value timeless imagery, meaningful moments, and an unforgettable guest experience, this day is a perfect example of what’s possible.
