Magdalen Catholic Church Ceremony + The Highlands Reception
Audrey and Luke’s May wedding in Wichita was the kind of celebration that reminds you what weddings are really about — gathering your favorite people in one place to laugh, dance, and celebrate love. With a ceremony at Magdalen Catholic Church and a reception at The Highlands, their day was effortlessly elegant, timeless, and full of joy.
As a Kansas City wedding photographer who specializes in candid, true-to-life photography, this wedding was a dream to capture — not because of an elaborate timeline or endless portraits, but because of how present Audrey and Luke were with their people. They didn’t want the day to revolve around photos, and honestly? That made every moment we did capture feel even more meaningful.
A Ceremony Full of Heart at Magdalen Catholic Church
The day began at Magdalen Catholic Church, a beautiful and peaceful space that perfectly matched the intentionality of their wedding. Surrounded by family and close friends, Audrey and Luke said their vows in a classic, sacred setting that held deep meaning for them. The light in the church was soft and warm — ideal for capturing natural, emotional moments without a big production
Timeless Portraits in Minimal Time
One of the unique parts of their wedding was the minimal time we had for portraits. Audrey and Luke were clear from the beginning — they wanted to be with their people, not away taking photos for hours. So we made it quick, efficient, and incredibly beautiful. Between the golden hour glow and their chemistry, we were able to capture timeless portraits that felt effortless and authentic. It’s a great example of how you can get stunning wedding photos without missing cocktail hour.
Airy, Elegant Celebration at The Highlands
The reception at The Highlands was full of energy, laughter, and lots of movement. The venue’s spacious layout and stunning outdoor space allowed guests to spread out, catch up, and enjoy the perfect spring weather. It truly felt like one big, joyful reunion — exactly what Audrey and Luke had hoped for.
Thoughtful Details + an Amazing Vendor Team
Everything about the day felt personal, from Audrey’s gorgeous gown from her mom’s shop (Shawn’s Bridal) to the incredible floral work by Lovely Floral Co, who brought in soft, romantic tones that elevated the day’s elegance. Guests enjoyed catering from Blue Moon Caterers, delicious cake by Buckingham Cakes, and late-night ice cream from Mobile Moo — such a fun touch!
The day was flawlessly coordinated by Aubrey Anne Events, with Paige Waite Film capturing video alongside me. And if you’ve ever seen Lost Wax Band perform, you already know the dance floor was unforgettable.
A Note on Candid Wedding Photography in Kansas City & Beyond
What I loved most about Audrey and Luke’s wedding was how true it was to them. It wasn’t about elaborate posing or a rigid timeline — it was about connection. As a Kansas City wedding photographer, I believe the best images come from real moments, and this day was full of them.
